General & Eligibility

1. What is the purpose of the pre-claim?

The pre-claim process is a mandatory step to ensure a secure and fair distribution of the $ERA token. It allows genuine community members to confirm their allocation ahead of the Token Generation Event (TGE) and helps filter out bots and Sybil farmers, ensuring the token goes to real users who support the long-term health of the Caldera ecosystem.

2. Why is pre-claiming required? What happens if I don’t pre-claim?

Pre-claiming is the only way to secure a spot in the final token distribution. Any allocation that is not pre-claimed before the deadline (Tuesday, July 15th, at 9:00 AM PST) will be forfeited and returned to the Caldera DAO Treasury for future community initiatives.

3. How was eligibility determined?

The criteria were designed to reward a wide range of participants, including active users of Caldera-powered rollups, members of key partner communities, and other valuable contributors across the broader rollup ecosystem.

4. When can I claim my final $ERA tokens?

The final claim for your $ERA tokens will begin at the Token Generation Event (TGE). The date and time for the TGE will be announced through official channels after the pre-claim window has closed. Completing this pre-claim process is required to be eligible for the final claim.

Allocation & Rewards

5. Is the allocation shown on the site final?

No. The allocation displayed during the pre-claim process is provisional. A robust, ongoing Sybil detection analysis is being conducted. Addresses that are flagged as part of a Sybil cluster in an attempt to farm rewards may have their final allocation significantly adjusted. This is a necessary measure to reward genuine participants fairly.

6. How does the Sybil detection process work?

A sophisticated onchain analysis was used to identify wallets exhibiting Sybil-like behavior (e.g., interacting with the protocol in a formulaic way across many addresses to farm an airdrop). To ensure fairness, allocations for addresses flagged by these criteria may be significantly adjusted. This rigorous process protects the distribution for genuine community members.

7. Why do I need to connect my GitHub or X (Twitter) account?

Connecting these accounts is an optional step to check for additional rewards. The distribution is designed to recognize not only onchain activity but also contributions from open-source developers and active community advocates. Connecting these accounts allows the portal to verify eligibility for these specific contributor bonuses.

8. What is the network security bonus and is staking optional?

The total allocation shown in the portal includes a network security bonus. The bonus portion of this allocation will be automatically staked for 90 days designed to create long-term alignement and ensure the security and stability of the network from day one.

Security & Troubleshooting

9. How can I stay safe from scams?

  • Only use the official URL: https://claim.caldera.foundation. Bookmark it and double-check it every time.
  • Official accounts will never DM you first. Anyone messaging you directly about the airdrop is a scammer.
  • You will never be asked to send funds or pay gas to pre-claim your tokens. The process is gas-free.
  • Trust only official announcements from the verified X/Twitter account (@CalderaFDN) and the official Discord server.

10. Why do I have to complete a “Proof of Humanity” step?

Proof of Humanity verification is a crucial security measure to prevent automated bots from claiming tokens. This one-time check ensures that tokens are distributed to real, unique individuals, protecting the fairness and integrity of the distribution for the entire community.

11. What does “signing a message” mean? Is it safe?

Signing a message is a standard and safe way to prove ownership of your crypto wallet without initiating a transaction or spending any gas. In this process, you are simply providing a cryptographic signature to confirm your intent to pre-claim your allocation. It does not grant any permissions to move your funds.

12. Can I use a hardware wallet (e.g., Ledger, Trezor) to pre-claim?

Yes. You can connect to the pre-claim portal using a compatible software wallet (like MetaMask) that is connected to your hardware wallet. All transaction and message signing prompts will then be securely passed to your hardware device for approval.

13. What should I do if the claim portal website isn’t working or my wallet won’t connect?

If you encounter issues, please try the following standard troubleshooting steps:

  • Perform a hard refresh of the page (Ctrl/Cmd + Shift + R).
  • Clear your browser’s cache and cookies.
  • Try using a different web browser.
  • Temporarily disable other browser extensions, which can sometimes interfere with wallet connections.
  • Ensure your wallet (e.g., MetaMask) is updated to the latest version.
